No need to tear apart the Heritage, especially not after Brampton's 25th year of existance. I hope one day to take my kids, and their kids, and my kids' kids' kids, and their kids, to this theater so that they can enjoy it as much as I do. I LOVE THE HERITAGE THEATRE if you take the HERITAGE out of the HERITAGE THEATRE, you'll be left with THEATRE....and we all know that no theatre can be successful with a plain name such as THEATRE...I mean, would you go to the THEATRE?..of course not...but would you go to the HERITAGE THEATRE?..the answer is as clear as diarhea water.."

Caity Grant

Faye Moreau:
"I understand that people think once we have the new, bigger theatre built, we will have no need for the Heritage Theatre, but that is far from the truth. even with the Heritage Theatre, we have few places amateur performers can perform, and i doubt that the new theatre will be hosting any small time shows."

: "It has always struck me as odd tearing down the Heritage
Theatre and building a new one called the Heritage Theatre. I have heard the excuses and reasons from the Arts Council, worked at the place and performed in the space as well. Brampton doesn't have much heritage, just developers with little imagination or scope".

Michael Moran:
"The Heritage Theater and buildings like it are what draw people to Brampton. Do not kill the goose that lays the golden egg. The Heritage Theater must be preserved. Most of all, preservation is about the future. Preservation of the theater will help make Brampton the very best that it can be for future generations"

E. Gray

Bianca Cribbs

Steve Fennell:
"How can you not want to save the Heritage Theatre?"

Andrea:
"I've seen shows at the heritage and as a student attending a performing arts school it was truly inspirational and very believable. During the show Blood Brothers the actors showed there concentration and used there stage directions and acting skills very well. As a class in grade 9 we are anticipating the next time we go to see another show there because it was truly amazing. Demolishing something that could possibly teach us all we can learn from simply observing is just ridiculous. Shows put on there are never a disappointment. I have much more respect for theatre actors/actresses then movie stars. Don't take away the one theatre that has inspired many people to work harder and strive to be and actor/actress. The one place I hope to see myself performing in the near future."

Adrienne

Betty L. Barna:
"It's a beautiful theatre."

Jim Estok

Ushma Desai
: "Save the theatre!"

Ian Christie:
"Good luck"

Marlene Demytrow

Kenneth James Haw:
"I remember the Heritage when it was the Capitol theatre. Back in the old days when the creek used to run through downtown, before the diversion was built."

Pearl Henrietta Haw:
"I can remember when the Capitol theatre still had its orchestra pit from a period when live Orchestra's accompanied silent films.

Lynda Goyeau:
"I remember a time when movies cost 25 cents and popcorn cost 5 cents. The Heritage Theatre has that old charm - not unlike the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres in Toronto. Brampton is a better place for retaining a theatre of this kind. I support maintaining the Heritage Theatre as a performing arts space for local talent."

Darryl Mabee

Richard Champagne:
"Everyone needs a haven, a sanctuary if you will.... Brampton indies are in everyone, allow them their sanctuary."

"Save the Heritage Theatre! Brampton needs to preserve and embrace its past. Be a Leader Brampton! Pave the way for other municipilaties to follow in preserving and protecting the past."

Mary Louise Duncan
: "It's a lovely, intimate venue with good acoustics and great character. It would be foolish and short-sighted to destroy it. Outside North America, heritage architecture is valued. It would be a shame if we fail utterly in foresight".

Jennifer Vivian

Catherine Barker:
"The Heritage Theatre is a significant part of MY culture and history in Brampton. Please do not destroy it. I look foreward to the new, but we must respect the past!"

Lynn Rudolph:
"The Heritage Theatre is such a beautiful historic landmark for Brampton. It is the unique architecture and old world charm that make this theatre such a pleasure to visit. Please save what little heritage we have left in Brampton. It is old architecture like the Heritage and St. Paul's United Church that help make downtown Brampton the beautiful place it is"
.

Gregory Barrett:
"I have grown up with this rich historical theater, performed in it twice and seen numerous performances there. To lose such a fixture of our city is a pity, and should NOT be pursued to demolition, under any considerations"

Sara Van Arkel: "I am currently a theatre student, who hopes to some day work in this theatre. I stongly believe that theare is something that has the power to bring a community together to share in something wounderful, even for just a short period of time. It shocks me to no end to know that someone would even consider destroying not only a historic landmark but also a place of magic that everyone seems to love".

Clint Kelly

Michael Kralt

Hayley Tacoma: "

Kenneth Austen: "We don't need another Burger King"

Matt Alexander: "I visited the Heritage Theatre last night and discovered that, like the Tivoli Theatre in Hamilton, your city has a beautiful and charming old theatre ideal for beautiful, charming medium sized events that allow small cities to express their uniqueness.

Do not tear down the Heritage Theatre. The Tivoli theatre is gone, and Oshawa has never had as nice a place as either of those spaces. You are richer for having it".

Sandy Goldenberg

Stacy Burke

Alex Bland

Sarah Tyler

Cameron McDermaid: "History is what makes places like the Heritage Theatre the magical place it is"

And now I see what brilliance Friendly Rich is doing there. Heck, maybe one day i will perform there again. I now live and work in Toronto as a dancer, actor and puppeteer and I truly believe that it was at that theatre where my dreams became a reality. The Heritage Theatre is one of the only places of it's kind. Don't demolish this buiiding!"

Dayna Barron

Heather Needham

Byron Murray: "Save it!! We need it, we want it, and it is an opportunity to increase Bramptons recognition on a regional, national, and global level".

Leah-Anne Goyeau

Andrew Minett: "Being from Oshawa originally I know about how an ignorant city council can destroy culture and suck life out of the arts scene. Here's hoping Brampton makes the right decision."

Lisa fabbro

Mike Harding: "We don't have to be another Mississauga"

Katerina Trotto

Ashley Moyles: "I work at the Heritage Theatre and I have noticed that I am the only one on the signature page from the Theatre who has signed this petition. Shame on all my coworkers! Well, not really, but damn am I the only one who works there who cares?!"

It's perfect for the "unplugged" type of performances that I enjoy. The defeaning, electronic sounds are not for me nor The Heritage. I love to sit first row in the upper balcony. It proves a wonderful view of the theatre, it's ceiling and walls and I still feel close to the performers".

Susan Daniels

We may not be around to answer their questions, but someone will... if indeed there is something to talk about !!! How many more buildings more than 40 years old must be destroyed before someone wakes up to the fact that old theatres, old buildings, old houses... can never be replaced??? Shame on Brampton for not preserving its wondrous history. Years from now, children will believe that Brampton was founded in 1950... What historical building(s)will not suffer the developer's quest for profit ?????? It will be a sad day for everyone, when Sonny's burger and french fry emporium on Kennedy Street is the oldest remaining historical venue in the city. SHAME ON BRAMPTON!!!"

Kira Phillips: "I have lived in Brampton my whole life and that theater has become a part of who I am. It creates magic in a way that only an old historic theater can. To tear it down would be tearing away a part of every citizen who loves the simple things in life."

Ryan Megarrell: "Caledon rules!"

Trever Mohammed

Chantalle Wakelin

k.b.

Patricia La Valle

Denise Baughan

Jeffrey Schrik: "Governments on all levels continue to scale back on The Arts and hold true to the idea that the modern is some how "better" and can be replaced and upgraded. The heritage plays an important role in the community, in the arts, and even in government when debates are held there."

Faron Gidge:"A community devoid of its cultural heritage is also devoid of its humanity and thusly subject to a deteriorating sense of purpose and belonging."

Meghan Ruttle: "Please send this petition to everyone you know in Brampton..it's definitely an important part of our culture, and we need to preserve it for teh generations to come."

Tanya Grant: "It would be a sad thing to destroy the Heritage Theater. As a member of The Brampton Folk Club, I have had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful accoustics. People have come to Brampton , specifically ,to record in the theater. I for one, would hate to see it go."

L. McFarlane

Christina Ally

Jenn

Michael Knight

Kristen Paterson: "No body wants to see the one and only arts theatre in Brampton to be demolished. I have vivid memories of visiting the Heritage Theatre when I was young. It IS a big part of Brampton. To take that away would be depriving the city of it's options and history. I'm sure the city is changing, but is this a reason to let go of our roots?"

Nicole Dyble

Mr. and Mrs. Gregor & Lulu Marsville

JP Greco: "One of the things I was told by a staff member who I had e-mailed at the theatre is that the Heritage was NOT DESIGNED TO LAST THAT LONG!! Is that what we do here in Brampton? Tear things down because they've reached a certain age? I've heard the reasons that I've heard, and still, I stand firmly by my belief that the Heritage Theatre- something that represents Brampton's CULTURAL HISTORY, should not be torn down".

Chantale Marentette: "One of my first shows with my band was at this venue. Precious memories. I'd hate to see this place torn down."

E. Gray

Lynn Patterson

Kat Chung

Debbie O'Rourke: "The Heritage Theatre is a sturdy treasure that contributes character and beauty to the atmosphere of downtown Brampton. It is economically sustainable and perfect for the kind of mid-sized events that will become more common as Brampton grows as a cultural centre".

Byron Murray: "Please save this monument to Brampton's glowing, (yet fading) history. We need to preserve the few things we have left in this city which carry important connections to the past, and one space such as this is the Heritage Theatre. The theatre transcends generations for the memories which were wonderfully invoked from the stage.

One of my earliest memories if from the Heritage Theatre. I remember seeing Robert Munch on the stage, reading from his books. I also remember one of the highlights of my artistic career has been the Independant Arts Festival, which with the beautiful location and facility in place, I could share my visions and dreams with the city in a meaningful way. Please, keep this beautiful piece of Brampton history alive."

Ian Vincent Godfrey: "Why is it whenever a town seeks to reinvent itself, it does so by destroying the very things that make it unique and beautiful in the first place? The Heritage Theatre is a truly wonderful building that deserves historic preservation if anything, and not the threat of demolition. Theatres such as these should not be blamed for the mismanagement of incompetent businessmen. I guarantee that with some hard-working people with good ideas and some intelligence, a new role for the theatre can be found making it the profit-making entity that the city obviously wants to replace it with. Nothing you build in the future (unless you build something else of cultural relevance) will replace the hole you will leave by tearing it down. Pragmatically speaking, it simply makes much more sense to try to find a new purpose or role for the existing structure rather than having to tear it down and build something new. That's just common sense. I hope you will do the right thing."

Mike Balkwill

Anna Przychodzki: "If it ain't broke dont fix it!"

Sonia

Joseph M. Gomes: "I was among the first to perform at the gala opening of the restored Heritage Theatre. Don't tear it down. Just think what Niagara-on-the-Lake would look like without the Prince of Wales hotel?"

Adam Earle

John Osborne: "Destroying cultural institutions for over-priced urban projects is disgusting. If Susan Fennel doesn't see it's worth after Friendly Rich's work to save it, I plan to use my vote to get her out of office. It takes one voice to lead an army...go Rich go...."

Adam Sobolak

Pam Bruce: "I work in Brampton and I want to see the Heritage Theatre preserved. Tearing it down would be a crime. It is a great old building with plenty of potential. Please keep up the fight to save it.
